The IC-R2 Receiver is small. Very small to be exact but packed in this package are some pretty big features.

Three receive modes: AM, FM and Wide FM
400 memories for storing favourite channels (8 banks of 50)
25 band edge memories for easy scanning between specified frequencies
Tone squelch operation (CTCSS decode): As used on many radio amateur repeaters today
Tone squelch scan: Find the tone in use easily
Simple operation: You hardly need the instruction manual to operate the R2
Uses just two AA batteries
Power save function including auto shut down to conserve battery life
